Charlie's world was turned upside down at the age of 14 when his father, a retired police officer and the family's main provider, suffered a devastating stroke. If that wasn't enough, his older sister also passed away shortly after. During this time, Charlie also served as a police officer in Florida, where he experienced the gut-wrenching tragedy of losing a close friend in the line of duty and the loss of another to suicide.
